Glazing Sections

These sections are the most popular type of glazing section. It is much easier for the
operative to use and can be fitted very quickly thereby labour costs are brought down considerably.
This item has become the established choice of constructors in all situations that
require an efficient self-sealing weather strip.
We offer a fair number of sizes from stock, however, as always, there are other sizes
we can order for you.

FILLER STRIP

A filler strip is required to be used on this glazing section, which closes the glass and
panel gaps firmly.
These are available in; Black Rubber, White or Chrome finish PVC.

GLAZING TOOL

This is a great aid for speedy insertion of the filler strip into the glazing section.

METHOD By measuring the distance around the panel aperture and adding to it
10mm per metre the recommended length is obtained. Commencing at the centre of
the top edge of the panel, fit the glazing section around the panel, ensuring that it is
firmly pushed into the corners. Bring the glazing section ends together away from the
panel and push firmly home. Without using any undue force, insert as much glass as possible into the glazing section on the lower edge of the panel. The remainder can then be fitted using the tool. The tool is used to lift the lip of the channel, allowing the glass to be pushed in position. Start inserting the filler strip at the position well away from the glazing section join.
Insert the tool into the filler strip groove and feed the filler strip in from the front of
the tool eye. Make certain that the filler strip is not stretched, especially round the
corners. When the circuit has been completed, remove the tool and cut off the excess
filler strip leaving a 12mm overlap. Push this overlap onto the groove to form a tight
joint using the rounded nose of the tool.

TIP By using a little sealant in both the panel and glazing channels, good slip can be
obtained, and when using the glazing tool a little detergent can help.
